Goa a Birding Paradise

Goa is just a nine and a half hour flight away from the UK (Gatwick) and a whole new world of birding awaits.

Baga in the north of Goa is the place to head for with superb birding right on your hotel doorstep.

There are many hotels around Baga offering a choice of price and accommodation to suit most pockets and tastes.

On our first two holidays to Goa (1998 / 2000) we stayed at the Ronil Beach Hotel which was excellent.

Just behind this hotel is an amazing patch work of paddies and small lakes which was a birding paradise.

Then on our third visit (December 2002) we stayed at the CSM (Colonia Santa Maria)

Which was also very good and just up the road from the Ronil.

If your looking for something different in your birding then you should really consider Goa. We have now had three thoroughly enjoyable holidays to Goa and visited many sites. All the above are easily reached by taxi plus we would recommend you visit Maem Lake and Bondla forest sanctuary. Both these sites are a must in any birding trip to Goa. All hotels have their own taxi rank outside and you can strike a deal with one of the many drivers.
Good Birding!
